KFSensor

Local Sensor Configuration

Use the Local Sensor Configuration dialog box to configure the connection with the KFSensor server.

Controls

  • Sensor ID
The Sensor ID is recorded with each event to enable its source to be identified.
Each installation of KFSensor should be given its own unique Sensor ID.
  • Admin port
The KFSensor monitor and server communicate with each other using sockets on the admin port.
The KFSensor server listens for TCP connections on this port.
Any valid port number can be used for the admin port. However it is best to ensure you do not use a well known port number or a number of a port being used by a listen setting.
  • Log Level

This setting controls the amount of information sent to the system log.
This should normally be set to INFO.
If this is set to DEBUG extra information is logged that may be useful for tracking down problems.

Remote server admin of local sensor

  • Enable remote admin
Check the Enable remote admin check box to ensure that this KFSensor Enterprise Sensor will accept remote connections.
  • Allow remote configuration
If you want a remote KFSensor Enterprise Monitor to be able to reconfigure the local sensor then check the Allow remote configuration check box. If this is not checked the sensor will only allow a remote KFSensor Enterprise Monitor to view its events.

Local Key

The local key field shows an ASCII representation of the public key that is installed on this KFSensor.
  • Import
This button enables the local key to be replaced by a public/private key pair in a specified file
  • Export
Exports the local public key to a file
  • Create
Create a new local key using a secure random process.
Once a new key has been created KFSensor will be unable to communicate with other KFSenors until you export this new key and import it into the other KFSensor installations. This will take a number of seconds as the key generation algorithm is very processor intensive.
